What does a Wangaratta Farmers market volunteer do?

  • Be totally awesome and yourself

At the market

  • Set-up and pack-down market marquees, seating areas and signage (some heavy lifting, 1 hour shift)
  • Represent Harvest at the market’s information stall (2 hour shift once every 2 months)-
    • welcome and provide information to patrons at the market entrances
    • count attendance, engage patrons and introduce to producers and makers 
    • offer assistance to patrons
    • Invite gold coin donation
  • Be a cook or a server at our fundraising BBQ (2 hour shift once every 2 months)

Between monthly market

  • Help with marketing and social media (up to 3 hours a month)
  • Help with organising special events ( up to 3 hours a month)
  • Help with volunteer recognition and coordination (up to 3 hours a month)
  • Help with market admin and logistics ( up to 3 hours a month)

Committee Member

  • Up to 4 hours a month including 1.5 hour monthly meeting 4th Wednesday of every month

I understand that the information provided may be disclosed to third parties including but not limited to, local, state and federal government departments and agencies I understand I have the right to request access to, and correct, any personal information that the WFM holds about me subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 I will inform WFM of any changes in my personal information as they occur.

Volunteer FAQs

  • Complete registration form , identifying what kinds of roles you are interested in
  • Advise your availability ( 3 – 12 months in advance)
  • Attend briefing with Market Coordinator
  • If working at the monthly market, attend market shifts you have signed up for
  • Email or phone Market Coordinator at least 12 hours before your shift if you are unable to attend
  • If working on projects or tasks between markets, attend all meetings related to your tasks or project and provide as much notice as possible if you are not able to complete tasks you have signed up for

We recognise and value our volunteers’ time and therefore we believe that less is more when it comes to volunteering.

To make sure you want to stay involved and enjoy your volunteer experience, we invite your following commitment:

  • 1 x 2-hour shift once every 2 months -on ground market volunteers working at Information tent and BBQ and bump in/ bump out
  • Up to 3 hours a month – between market volunteers involved in marketing, admin, events and social media
  • Up to 4 hours a month – Committee Member
